4-year-old boy drowns at campground in Adirondacks
SANTA CLARA, N.Y. (AP) — New York state police say a 4-year-old boy has drowned at a campground in the Adirondacks.
Police say the family of William Mytych reported the child missing at about 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rollins Pond Campground in the city of Santa Clara. The boy had last been seen playing with other family members in the water near their campsite.
Forest rangers, campground staff and fellow campers helped police search for the little boy, who was from the Rochester suburb of Spencerport. He was found in the water at about 3:30 p.m.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities planned to conduct an autopsy.
