Area farmers learn lots of information at Winfield United Answer Plot

BATTLE CREEK - Farmers around Northeast Nebraska went to the Winfield United Answer Plot north of Battle Creek Tuesday to try and learn some valuable corn and soybean growing information.

Area Agronomist Mark Heineman says there were a couple of pointers he hopes attendees took away and will use on their farm.

“We want to make sure that as we’re looking at choosing our varieties for soybeans next year that its a good idea we’re looking for what field stresses are showing up so we can see if it’s going to be something we are probably going to have trouble with next year.”

Heineman says some other topics they hit on throughout the event were field pressures, crop stress loads, and white mold.

The Battle Creek plot is one of two expanded regional plots designed for the Western Corn Belt environment with specific research for that part of the world.
