‘Simply Diamond / Simply Simon’: Entertainer pays tribute to Neil Diamond and Paul Simon
“Simply Diamond / Simply Simon” is a show featuring the top hits of Neil Diamond and Paul Simon, and it’s headed to Westchester Broadway Theatre in Elmsford, N.Y.
Brian LaBlanc exudes Diamond’s warmth and flexibility in this concert set for Tuesday, June 19. He “soars through the ballads and rocks the uptempo numbers with a crack band behind him,” according to the theater’s website.
In the first act, LaBlanc will perform Simon’s hits, including “You Can Call Me Al,” “Late in the Evening,” “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard,” “Kodachrome,” and “Slip-Slidin’ Away,” the website said.
After that, in the second act, LaBlanc will sing Diamond’s gems — songs such as “Sweet Caroline,” “Holly Holy,” and “Cracklin’ Rosie.”
LaBlanc is a musician and songwriter, as well as a singer. It was Paul Shaffer, the band leader from “Late Night with David Letterman,” who encouraged him to develop a tribute show to Diamond.
Shaffer said, “I have personally seen four of the top Neil Diamond tribute acts in the country and this guy blows them all away!”
