Police notebook for April 25, 2018

Between 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 18 and 7:53 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, police responded to 185 calls.

East Wisconsin Street: Police on Wednesday, April 18, at 8:25 a.m. following a high-speed chase and ignoring two stop signs, Kenneth Harrell, 37, of Portage, was stopped and cited for operating a vehicle after revocation of a license as an eighth offense and reckless driving.

East Albert Street and Hamilton Street: Police on Wednesday, April 18, at 8:33 a.m. responded to a reported two-vehicle crash with no reported injuries where Jorge Alcorta, 47, of Oxford, was issued a citation for inattentive driving.

Thompson Street: Police on Wednesday, April 18, at 11:45 a.m. responded to a complaint whereupon Sandra Rangel, 28, of Watertown, was issued a misdemeanor citation for online contact of an individual in violation of a restraining order.

Caledonia Street and Wood Street: Police on Wednesday, April 18, at 7:18 p.m. received a complaint of reckless driving, resulting in a traffic stop at which Justin Stoltz, 22, of Wisconsin Dells, was arrested on a probation hold and cited for reckless driving and driving without insurance.

New Pinery Road: Police on Thursday, April 19, at 7:43 a.m. stopped a vehicle for the registered owner being suspended and equipment violations. The driver, Daniel Oheron, 26, of Wausau, was arrested on a probation hold and issued a citation for operating a vehicle after suspension of a license as a second offense. Passenger Kayla Gile, 26, of Ripon, was arrested on a probation hold and on suspicion of possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, and bail jumping.

Kwik Trip South: Police on Friday, April 20, at 8:12 a.m. cited Heath Sukow, 36, of Lowell, for public urination for relieving himself in the parking lot of the gas station.

DeWitt Street: Police on Saturday, April 21, at 12:56 a.m. responded to a fight where Joseph Kelley, 29, of Poynette, was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and violation of probation.

Jim’s BP: Police on Saturday, April 21, at 4:42 p.m., responded to an incident in which Erik Nyberg, 34, had reportedly urinated on the floor of the store. Nyberg was arrested on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated as a third offense.

Lincoln Park: Police on Sunday, April 22, at 3:35 p.m. responded to an incident where an 11-year-old boy had reportedly attacked another child. The 11-year-old was later located, and referred to Columbia County Health and Human Services for disorderly conduct and battery.

Walmart: Police on Sunday, April 22, at 7:41 p.m. responded to a domestic disturbance where a 19-year-old Portage man was arrested on suspicion of domestic disorderly conduct.

West Wisconsin Street and Dunn Street: Police on Monday, April 23, at 12:22 a.m. stopped an SUV for speeding. The driver, Devon Vinney, 22, of Friendship, was arrested on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated as a first offense, registering 0.136 on a preliminary breath test.

West Pleasant Street and MacFarlane Road: Police on Monday at 2:11 a.m. stopped Jesse Bell, 30, of Denver, Colorado, who was arrested on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated as a first offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, and operating a vehicle after suspension of a license as a first offense.

East Cook Street: Police on Monday, April 23, at 4:03 a.m. responded to a report of an intruder in which Willie Wilson, 56, of Portage, was accused of making an illegal copy of a key and using it to enter the residence, stealing a credit card and digging through one of the resident’s drawers. Wilson was later arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

New Pinery Road: Police on Monday, April 23, at 11:56 a.m. responded to a report of two girls drinking on a school bus. A 12-year-old was cited for underage drinking, while the 13-year-old was referred to Columbia County Health and Human Services for underage drinking.

Washington Street: Police on Monday, April 23, at 7:54 p.m. responded to a disturbance where a 53-year-old Portage man was cited for domestic disorderly conduct.

River Street and West Wisconsin Street: Police on Wednesday, April 25, at 1:18 a.m. stopped Kaneisha Nation, 27, of Madison, who was arrested on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle with a restricted controlled substance as a first offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, cited for operating a vehicle after suspension of a license as an eighth offense and warned for speeding. The vehicle was towed.
