Program provides new roof for veteran living in Rhode Island
WEST WARWICK, R.I. (AP) — A program seeking to help veterans as thanks for their service in the military has provided a new roof for the home of a woman living in Rhode Island.
Mirquy Jimenez served in the U.S. Army from 2007 to 2011 as secure communications support — deployed to Iraq and domestically deployed in Washington state. WPRI-TV reports Rhode Island Home Improvement and the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity brought a new roof for her West Warwick home on Wednesday.
Jimenez says she bought the house two years ago, but it has seen a number of problems culminating in the roofing issue. The roof was donated at no cost and installed for free by Rhode Island Home Improvement.
Jimenez says she plans to pay it forward by helping other veterans.
