Sidney”Ann” Willis Sanders formerly of Wayne County
SIDNEY “ANN” NEE WILLIS, age 82, left her beloved family to be with the Lord on 03/28/2018. Sidney was born on 08/16/1935. Her birthplace was in Wayne County, W.Va. Her parents were the late Berman Arthur Willis and late Olgia Gibson of Prichard, W.Va. She was a graduate of Buffalo High School. She married Henry Howard Sanders, had three children and lived in Huntington, W.Va., before moving to Chicago. She loved being with her children the late Arthur Dale, Sue Elaine and Sherry Diane. She anticipated visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She sang old nursery songs to them as she did with her own children years before (Bye ole Baby Buntin’, or Trot-a-little-horsey-go-to-town). She enjoyed singing “What a Joyful Morning that will be” or “Precious Memories.” “The old church hymns had such words that were often difficult to say but easier for all to sing” she said. Mom was a beacon of light for all. Mommy, we will always love you and cherish the time that you loved and gave to us. Though our hearts are broken and aching with pain from losing you, we couldn’t be more proud and blessed to call you our mother. Beauty radiates from your soul as much as your physical beauty did to the world. Enjoy your new life with Jesus, your loved ones and all the red “birds” cardinals you see. The late Henry Sanders loved Sidney deeply for nearly 55 years. She was a loving mother of Sue (Dean) Whitehead, Sherry (Charles) Mackey and the late Arthur Sanders. Dearest grandmother of Nichole (Jason) Mullen, Matthew Dale (Stephanie) Ferrard, Sarah (Stephen) Shields, Arien (Marisa) Whitehead and Corey Lee Mackey. Dear great-grandmother of Addesyn Mullen, Lexi Ferrard, Wyatt Dale Ferrard, Harper Ann Shields, Micah Joseph Shields, Zoey Louise Shields, Leigha May Whitehead and Reign Elaine Whitehead. Dearest sister of Martha “Sue” (Cletis) Adkins, Oscar (Gloria) Willis and the late Virgie (Bill) Wheeler, late Ernest (Ileta) Willis, late Berman (Jean) Willis, and late Catherine E. (late Ronnie) Caldwell. Interment at Bohemian National Cemetery, Chicago Illinois.
