Bhatia Named Managing Editor Of Dallas Times Herald
DALLAS (AP) _ Peter Bhatia, deputy managing editor-news at the San Francisco Examiner, will become managing editor of the Dallas Times Herald effective March 30, Times Herald Editor C. David Burgin announced.
Bhatia, 33, was a news editor at the Times Herald in 1980 and 1981, leaving to join the Examiner as news editor.
After becoming deputy managing editor in August 1985, he directed the Examiner’s coverage of the Philippines and led a staff that wrote a 15-part series on Central America that shared in five design awards from the Society for Newspaper Design.
A native of Pullman, Wash., and a graduate of Stanford University, Bhatia worked as a political writer and assistant news editor at the Spokesman-Review in Spokane, Wash., before joining the Examiner in 1977 as a copy editor.
He will report to Executive Editor Larry Tarleton, the newspaper said.
