January 18, 2018 GMT

Bluffton police are looking for a group of thieves who faked car trouble late Tuesday and robbed a motorist of cash at gunpoint.

According to police, the incident occurred before 10:30 p.m. near Main Street and South Sutton Circle Drive when a man was approached by four men and one woman riding inside a white or gray late ’80s or early ’90s Honda Civic.

The woman told the victim she and her companions were having car trouble. When the victim popped the hood of his vehicle, the four men surrounded him and a scuffle followed, police said.

One of the men pulled a black handgun on the victim and demanded money.

After the robbery, the victim went to a nearby convenience store and called police.

The suspects drove off west on Dustman Road from Main. Police are asking anyone with information to call 260-824-3320.
