Heard on the Street: New bridal boutique to open in downtown Rochester
The bride’s gown is the centerpiece of most weddings.
Claire Landgraf wants to help brides find the right look, fit and price for what is probably the most prominent clothing purchase they’ll ever make. Landgraf is opening a new boutique, Finery Bridal Chic, at 115 N. Broadway.
That’s the current office of Bush Cos., which is moving soon. The location shares the block with the former Rochester armory/senior center, which is being renovated and transformed into the Castle Community center.
“I really wanted to be downtown. I like being bookended by the Castle Community,” she said of the shop’s location. “It has good visibility. I hope we can help breathe new life into that area.”
Finery Bridal will offer dresses from a selection of designers hand-picked by Landgraf. She expects to have about 50 gowns in the shop, ranging in price from $800 to $5,000. The store will focus solely on bridal gowns and accessories.
She hopes to be in the “really, cool old space” in early August. Landgraf expects to have about four on staff, including herself.
In an intimate boutique setting, Finery will provide a high-level of customer service, Landgraf says. She wants to be able to help all brides, but with a particular focus on hard-to-fit brides.
“We’ll have something for every bride, no matter their budget, style or fit,” she said. “Every gown is a piece of art.”
Nick Pompeian and Joe Sveen, of Rochester’s Realty Growth Inc., lined up the 1,000-square-foot spot for Landgraf.
