UNC Charlotte shooting victim Drew Pescaro discharged from hospital, returns home
Drew Pescaro, one of the victims of the UNC Charlotte shooting, has officially been discharged after returning to the hospital last week, NBC Charlotte reported.
Pescaro had been released from Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center last Monday, but returned to a local hospital Wednesday, according to a social media post.
“Update: Following discharge on Monday afternoon from CMC Main in Charlotte, Drew has since been rehospitalized locally and his body is working hard to combat infection related to his injuries,” his girlfriend tweeted from his account.
Pescaro posted on his Twitter and Instagram Sunday afternoon that he was able to go home, sharing a video of him with Eminem’s “Without Me” in the background.
“I have been discharged and am officially home! Long road to recovery still awaits but I truly appreciate every amount of support that you all have provided for me,” the caption reads.
UNC Charlotte asked everyone to keep Pescaro as well as the other victims, 20-year-old Rami Alramadhan, 20-year-old Sean DeHart, and 23-year-old Emily Houpt, in their thoughts as they continue to heal.
Two students were killed during the shooting in a classroom in the Kennedy building on April 30: 19-year-old Ellis Parlier and 21-year-old Riley Howell.
