Gift Of Sight Doctors Gather At Conference
Some of the optometrists and ophthalmologists who participate in the Gift of Sight program were recognized on Sunday, April 8, during the annual Optometric Educational Conference held at Eye Care Specialists Rutter Avenue location in Kingston. The Gift of Sight program, through the Marilyn Moore Maslow Vision Resource Center at Northeast Sight Services, is dedicated to ensuring individuals in the local community have access to a basic eye exam, regardless of family income or insurance coverage. Consistent with Northeast Sight Services’ goal of preventing blindness, this program provides improved vision that empowers adults and children to pursue a better quality of life for themselves and their communities. Northeast Sight Services partners with eye care professionals who provide basic eye exams for individuals in need, typically those who are low income and uninsured. Many of these individuals are then provided with low cost prescription eyeglasses through Northeast Sight Services. Local eye care professionals (ophthalmologists and optometrists) partner with the Northeast Sight Services in the Gift of Sight program by agreeing to waive their examination fee for qualifying patients referred to them.
