Snow to welcome spring tonight, weather service says

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Mercer County, Ohio, and says snow will generally develop tonight south of U.S. 24 in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio.

Three to five inches of snow are expected in Mercer County between 8 p.m. tonight and 8 p.m. Wednesday, the weather service said in its advisory.

Elsewhere in the area, it said snow will develop tonight generally southeast of a line from Peru, Indiana, to Defiance, Ohio. That includes Allen, Adams, Huntington and Wells counties in Indiana and Defiance, Paulding and Van Wert counties in Ohio.

The heaviest amounts will be near Portland, Indiana, and Lima, Ohio, where up to 4 inches are expected, the weather service said.
