Private inurnment for Fred Piwenitzky, 94, will be at a later date. He died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, in Chiba, Japan.
He was born Oct. 5, 1924, on a farm in Stanton County to William and Mary (Mueller) Piwenitzky. He attended elementary schools in Stanton and Wayne counties and graduated from Hoskins High School in 1942.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater.
In the late 1940s, he moved to the Seattle, Wash., area. He worked for the Boeing company, heading up maintenance in Nigeria, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and Japan.
Survivors include his spouse, Sachiko; and his stepson, Nobie (Naoko) Ebihara; his sisters, Edith Stalnaker, Mary Ann Soden and Fern (Keith) Erickson; his brother, William (Pat) Piwenitzky; his sister-in-law, Joey Piwenitzky; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Hans Piwenitzky; and his brothers-in-law, Maurice Stalnaker and Stanley Soden.
