Brookfield firefighters: Burning on high fire danger days is unsafe

March 29, 2019

BROOKFIELD — Firefighters are reminding residents that burning construction debris or garbage is prohibited, and doing so on a high fire danger day is very dangerous.

Yesterday, firefighters responded to an outside fire at a private residence, where they found construction debris being burned in a pit.

Thursday was a high fire danger day and it “could have easily turned into a brush fire quickly if left unattended,” the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company posted on Facebook.

Residents may burn leaves and lawn debris with a burn permit issued by the Brookfield Fire Marshal, but they have to adhere to the specific guidelines.
