Rhode Island firefighter files harassment complaint

CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) — An outside attorney has been hired to investigate allegations of harassment within a Rhode Island city’s fire department.

A Cranston spokesman says a city firefighter reported allegations of “inappropriate behavior by others.”

The spokesman did not identify the firefighter who filed the complaint or how many people have been accused of harassment.

No criminal charges have been filed.

Mayor Allan Fung hired attorney Marc DeSisto last week to handle the investigation.

DeSisto will turn over his findings to the mayor’s office.

The city will pay DeSisto $175 an hour.
