Joe Kelly’s nomination as U.S. attorney for Nebraska is headed for floor vote in Senate
WASHINGTON — The Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday advanced Lancaster County Attorney Joe Kelly’s nomination to be the next U.S. attorney for Nebraska.
The committee signed off by voice vote on sending his nomination to the full Senate, where he is expected to be confirmed.
Kelly served as a prosecutor and chief deputy in the office before being elected Lancaster County attorney in 2010 and 2014.
He has the support of Nebraska Republican Sens. Deb Fischer and Ben Sasse. Sasse is a member of the committee.
