WVC Baseball: Meyers Powers Past MMI Prep
At Gibby Field, Nick Pugh went the distance, allowing just one hit and striking out three to lead Meyers to its first win of the year, an 11-0 victory over MMI Prep on Thursday.
Pugh allowed a single to Marc Lobitz with two out in the second inning. Pugh did not walk a batter.
Blake Bynon led the Meyers offense with three hits and two runs scored. Kyle Ostrowski had a double and three RBIs. Anthony Macko continued his hot start to the season with two hits including a triple with two runs scored. Through two games, Macko is 6 for 8.
Hanover Area 17, Northwest 2
At Hanover Area, Matt Clarke was 3 for 3 with three RBIs and three runs scored, and Todd Kolbicka pitched all three innings to get the win as Hanover Area improved to 4-0 on the year.
Kevin Polanco had three RBIs and scored two runs, while Mike Piscotty had two hits and scored three runs.
Brandon Hardiman had two hits for Northwest, while Connor Hazlet had a double and one RBI.
Wyoming Seminary 13, GAR 10
At Coal Street, Francis Nockley had three hits and scored four runs, and Mike Oravic hit his first home run of the season as Wyoming Seminary picked up its third consecutive win to start the season.
Oravic finished with three hits, three RBIs and three runs scored. Gavin Flanley had two hits and scored three runs. Sam Sweitzer went the first six innings to get the win.
Ronald Peguero had three hits for GAR. Jared Soto had two hits including a double and drove in two runs. Miguel Disla had two hits and two runs scored.
Lake-Lehman 10, Holy Redeemer 2
At Lake-Lehman, Kyle Sincavage led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run, and Max Paczewski finished with three runs scored as Lake-Lehman improved to 3-0 on the year.
CJ Cercone and Ian Evans each drove in two runs, while Chris Hadsall had two hits including a double. Alex Magdalinski came on in relief to get the win.
Nial Vener led Holy Redeemer with three hits including a double. Frankie Desiderio had a hit and RBI.
