Vehicle crashes into license branch
TRAIL CREEK — A 25-year-old man has been charged with two counts of misdemeanor operating while intoxicated after the truck he was driving slammed in to the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles building in Evergreen Plaza early Friday morning.
Trail Creek Deputy Nick Korepanow was dispatched to a burglar alarm at about 3:30 a.m. at the facility. Prior to arriving, Korepanow was informed a vehicle had struck the building.
At the scene, a male named Nicholas Judge, came forward and identified himself as the driver of the vehicle at the time of the crash. Judge stated he entered his truck to go home when the accelerator pedal became lodged against the floor board, causing his vehicle to strike the building as well as another vehicle parked nearby.
Korepanow initiated an operating while intoxicated investigation, which determined Judge to be impaired with a blood-alcohol content of .15 percent.
Judge was being held at La Porte County Jail on the charges. There were no injuries reported as a result of the accident.
Trail Creek Police Department was assisted by Michigan City Police Department and the La Porte County Sheriff’s Department.
