Garden Club to Visit Tower Hill

BOYLSTON -- The Laurelwood Garden Club will meet Friday, May 10, at 10 a.m., at Tower Hill Botanic Garden, 11 French Drive, Boylston.

A docent will guide a tour and explain the seasonal experiences while walking through the gardens. Members will enjoy seeing spring daffodils and tulips.

During the four-day Art in Bloom event recently held at Fitchburg Art Museum, the club’s Kay Previte Award was given to Nelly Wadsworth, representing Fitchburg State University, for her interpretation of Danielle Well’s “Taking the Pitch.”

The People’s Choice winner was Kathryn Foster, for her interpretation of Otto Piene’s “Orbit.”

Other top winners were Jo Ferrell for her interpretation of Lamame’s “The Old Parisian” and Leticia Schiavitti for her interpretation of “Elephant Mask,” representing the Laurelwood Garden Club.

The club’s Annual Meeting, with election of officers and luncheon, will be held Friday, June 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Fruitlands Museum Cafe, 100 Prospect Hill Road, Harvard.

The Laurelwood Garden Club meets from September to June on the second Friday of each month, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, at Fitchburg Art Museum, 185 Elm St. For more information, contact Julie Palioca at 978-537-7630.
