Sischo, Christy shine
BULLHEAD CITY — Hailey Sischo finished first in the 100-meter hurdles at 17.45 seconds and Stevi Christy came in third at 17.86 during the River Valley High School season opener at the Lake Havasu multi at Thunderbolt Middle School on Wednesday.
The River Valley Lady Dust Devils placed fourth out of seven high schools at the multi.
“We knew Hailey Sischo was fast,” said River Valley assistant track and field coach Ed Marquez by email. “But to see her in action for the first time, (it) appeared as though she was gliding on air as she ran the 100 hurdles.”
Christy came in first in the 300 hurdles at 51.85 and Sischo followed in fourth at 55.08, as well as Savanna Tafoya in eighth at 1:0167.
“With it being their first meet, we were all impressed as to the results that the kids produced,” Marquez said. “The 300 hurdles was Stevi’s last race of the day so for her to maintain and pull off first in her last race was quite impressive to say the least.”
Hailie Pagett finshed fifth in the 100 at 13.97, placed 10th in the 200 at 30.08 and came in seventh in the 800 at 2:55.78.
Raeann Mosely came in ninth in the 400 at 1:16.68.
Emily Wildebair placed third in the 1600 at 6:31.72.
