La Porte athletic schedule changes

The boys swim sectional originally scheduled at La Porte on Feb. 14 & 16 will now be at Chesterton High School. The Slicers JV & varsity boys basketball home games versus Goshen on Feb. 16 will now be played on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Slicer Gym. La Porte will be one of the northern hosts for the girls basketball semistate on Feb. 16. The Slicers’ freshman boys basketball game at Valparaiso has been moved to 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Westville boys hoops thumps O-D

Westville’s boys basketball team cruised 55-21 over visiting Oregon-Davis on Wednesday night. Carlin Young posted 13 points, five rebounds and four steals for the Blackhawks (7-9), and Josh DeChantal had 11 points. Jace Woods recorded nine points and five boards, and LaQunn Wilson and Elliot Bogart both had six rebounds.


SC gymnast King wins two events

South Central freshman Makenna King won vault (9.5) and uneven bars (8.75) in a gymnastics meet at Plymouth with Warsaw, Logansport, Bremen and John Glenn on Wednesday.

Falcons boys hoops drops close contest

John Glenn’s boys basketball team couldn’t overcome a sluggish second quarter, falling 55-52 at Concord on Tuesday night. Carter Yung’s 18 points paced the Falcons (10-7, 3-4 Northern Indiana Conference), and Rob Porter netted 13. Glenn, who got outscored 18-6 in the second period, missed a game-tying shot at the buzzer.

City to make up gymnastics meets

Michigan City will make up its postponed gymnastics meets with Lake Central and Crown Point as a double dual at 6 p.m. Thursday. It will be scored Lake Central against Michigan City and Crown Point against Michigan City, but not Crown Point against Lake Central.
