Legislative panel picks Buffalo for state-run veterans home
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A legislative committee has recommended Buffalo as the site for a potential state-run nursing home for veterans.
The Legislature’s Joint Transportation, Highways and Military Affairs Committee decided Tuesday that Buffalo was the best location for the facility.
Buffalo has been the site of the Veterans’ Home of Wyoming since 1903 and its supporters said placing the new facility on the same campus made both logistical and financial sense.
Casper and Sheridan were the other finalists considered for the facility.
A bill to fund the project will be introduced in the Legislature next year. If the proposed bill passes, the state will submit an application to the VA next spring.
