Fire hits Unity Worship Center again

November 14, 2018

Firefighters were called a second time in as many days to the Unity Worship Center on Holton Avenue after a passerby reported another fire there.

Adam O’Connor, Fort Wayne Fire Department deputy chief, said flames were visible in the rafters around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, but the fire was quickly extinguished.

The initial fire, which started Monday around 10:30 a.m., moved from the church basement to the roof and spread to “many areas of the church,” O’Connor said.

“Fires tend to run right up the wall and into the roofline,” O’Connor said.

No injuries were reported. The fire is still under investigation.
