Police identify man found dead in Kanawha River
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Authorities in West Virginia have released the name of a man who was found dead in the Kanawha River.
Charleston police on Thursday identified the man as 56-year-old John Douglas Mason, of Charleston.
Officials found Mason Wednesday evening after a report of a body in the river about a mile away from the state Capitol building.
Police say no foul play is suspected at this time. The body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
