Fall Katy Home and Garden show rescheduled

October 23, 2017 GMT

The Fall Katy Home and Garden Show and Vintage Market has been rescheduled for Oct. 28-29 after Hurricane Harvey forced the show to move, offering free admission so those hit hardest by Harvey can explore a range of remodeling options.

The show will now be at the Katy Elite Sports Complex, 25307 Kingsland Blvd., behind the AMC at Katy Mills Mall.

Meet face-to-face with reputable contractors who’ve served the area for many years and see the latest trends in home decor and design. The popular home show in west Houston, which has been showcasing the most current and creative trends in the home design industry for over 11 years, now adds the fall show and Vintage Market to its annual line-up.

The event will include a chic Vintage Market featuring home decor and unique finds. Hear how the mastermind behind Dumpster Diva Designs, Melissa Cervantes, has gained a massive following by turning trash into treasure.

Stroll through the new Kitchen & Bath Idea Center for the latest updates.

Meet experts from remodeling; windows; roofing; landscape; flooring; paint; and more and all ready to take your ideas and shape them into reality.

Bringing the outdoors in is still a trend and so is outdoor living. Stock up on fall color and foliage with a stop at the Brookwood Community Fall Plant Sale.

In addition to the nearly 200 industry experts, be inspired by a range of seminars and guest speakers like Dumpster Diva Designs. When it comes to turning a home from drab to fabulous, Dumpster Diva Designs delivers on Texas-sized transformations.

Located “just off the square” in McKinney, Cervantes has gained her following of nearly a quarter of a million decor-lovers by putting new life into old pieces.

“I’m so excited to be coming to Houston,” said Cervantes. “Rehabbing furniture is a passion and I can’t wait to show people how, with a little bit of creativity and imagination, an outdated piece can become the cherished focal point of their home or ways they can turn a junky-yard find into a treasure.” Cervantes will present both Saturday and Sunday.

Ready for some football and fall entertaining? Harold Kelly, director of sales and marketing for Mélange Catering, will provide insight into how he transformed his Pinterest mishaps into success on the Fresh Ideas Stage.

“Chopped” Champion Shannen Tune, from Craft Burger Food Truck, will share his famous fried chicken recipe, which led to his Chopped Champion fame.

“The Katy community has been so wonderful in supporting our shows over the years,” said Robyn Cade, president of RJC Productions Inc. the show’s producer.

“Our hearts were broken to see the devastation that Harvey wreaked on our community, so we are offering everyone FREE admission to the show to help the community recover, repair, rebuild and renew.

“Nothing is more important for a homeowner than being able to meet with as many reputable contractors face-to-face and all at one time, so we are focused on bringing in some of the best in the Katy/Houston area, as well as a rep from FEMA,” added Cade.

Park at the mall and take a FREE shuttle to the complex. Show hours are Saturday, Oct. 28, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 29, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
