Hit-and-run suspect caught after LA airport officer hurt
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles Airport Police motorcycle officer was banged up in a hit-and-run collision with a car, and a suspect was arrested less than two hours later.
Airport Police spokesman Rob Pedregon tells City News Service the car’s driver took off after the crash around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday in the Playa Del Rey area.
The officer was treated at a hospital for a fractured wrist, scrapes and contusions.
Authorities set up a perimeter and caught the suspect shortly after 2 a.m. He could face charges including felony hit-and-run. Pedregon says the crash may have been alcohol-related.
The LAPD is assisting airport police in the investigation.
