Former Central running back visits Beaumont elementary school

January 14, 2017

Former Central running back Devwah Whaley has always impressed with his on-field performances but now the Arkansas freshman is finding an impressive niche in the classroom.

Beaumont ISD tweeted Friday a picture of Whaley reading to first-grade children at Charlton-Pollard Elementary School.

Whaley is far removed from his elementary school days but the smiles on the children’s faces are proof enough Whaley is still a welcome presence in his hometown.

Whaley, a Super Gold First Team honoree as a senior in 2015, rushed for 602 yards and three touchdowns this past season as a freshman for the Razorbacks.

Arkansas finished 7-6 in Whaley’s first season.
