Thomas’ 20 points lead Rider to an 84-68 win at Hartford
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Kahlil Thomas scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Rider took control of the game late in the first half and rolled to an 84-68 win over Hartford Wednesday night.
Thomas grabbed a half-dozen rebounds during an eight-minute stretch that saw the Broncs extend a 23-20 lead into a 41-35 halftime lead.
Xavier Lundy had 19 points for Rider and Dimencio Vaughn added 15 points off the bench as the Broncs shot 45.2 percent (33 of 73) and hit 4 of 14 from distance (28.6 percent).
The Broncs held a decided advantage on the boards, outrebounding Hartford 49-33.
Jalen Ross finished with 20 points to lead the Hawks (1-2). Jack Hobbs added 14 points off the bench and George Blagojevic added 11.
The Broncs now lead the series with Hartford 4-1, with three of those wins coming on the Hawks home court.
