Smashing Pumpkins Get Key to City
PORTLAND, Maine (AP) _ More than 300 fans lined up to see the Smashing Pumpkins while they made a stop in downtown Portland.
Mayor Nicholas Mavodones presented the rock group with a key to the city Tuesday, but that ceremony wasn’t what prompted exclamations from dazzled fans leaving Bull Moose Records.
``He kissed me, he kissed me,″ said Trisha Giasson of Peru, Maine. The 19-year-old said she waited in line for 11 hours before getting smooched by lead singer Billy Corgan.
The band is on a 37-city autographing tour to promote its latest album, ``Machina _ Machines of God.″
