Hampton Inn clerk shot, killed in southwest Ohio

FAIRBORN, Ohio — An employee of a Hampton Inn died Wednesday night after being shot while working behind the lobby counter, reports say.

The unidentified victim was shot around 7:20 p.m., according to the Dayton Daily News. When police arrived, he was found behind the counter with a gunshot wound, WDTN Channel 2 reports.

The victim was taken to the Soin Medical Center in Beavercreek, Ohio, but died of his injuries.

The motive for the shooting is unknown.

Police are now searching for two young male suspects who were wearing dark clothing, ABC 22 reports. The two males drove away in a white, late 1990s Buick-style sedan, police say.

Fairborn is a suburb of Dayton.
