Track And Field: Minichello Gets Second At Penn Relays
Track and Field
The Wyoming Valley Conference nearly had another first-place finisher at the Penn Relays.
Wyoming Area senior Marc Anthony Minichello recorded a 202-foot-2 throw in the high school boys javelin championship, good for second place at the 124th edition of the track and field event at Penn’s Franklin Field. Minichello was runner-up in a 17-boy field, behind only champion Tzuriel Pedigo of Louisiana’s Parkview Baptist, who threw 238-foot-6.
Minichello had the latest successful outing from the WVC at the Penn Relays. On Thursday, Berwick senior Payden Montana threw 50-foot-7 to win the girls shot put by more than three feet, while Pittston Area senior Abby Norwillo took fifth in the girls pole vault at 12-foot-3.5.
The conference also had a winner in 2017, when Coughlin graduate and current Lehigh freshman Madisyn Hawkins cleared 12-foot-7.5 to win the girls pole vault by four inches.
