Prosecutor to hold announcement on Charlotte police shooting
The district attorney in Charlotte, North Carolina, has scheduled a news conference to discuss his investigation of a police officer’s fatal shooting of a black man earlier this year.
District Attorney Andrew Murray’s office announced that he would address reporters at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday about police officer Brent Vinson’s actions. Watch the news conference live on WRAL.com.
Vinson, who’s also black, shot and killed Keith Lamont Scott on Sept. 20. The shooting touched off several nights of unrest in North Carolina’s largest city.
Scott was sitting in his vehicle in an apartment complex parking lot when he was confronted by police there to serve a warrant to someone else. Police video showed officers shouting for Scott to drop a gun numerous times before he was shot. Scott’s family has said he was not armed.
