NORFOLK - A Norfolk man was killed as the result of an accident at the intersection of North 1st street and Northeast Industrial Highway Thursday afternoon.

According to Nebraska State Patrol Captain Paul Hattan, Kent Wilkie of Wayne was northbound on 1st street and failed to see the oncoming eastbound vehicle driven by 25-year-old Tyson Freeman and pulled out in front of him.

Freeman was killed when he struck the drivers side of Wilkie’s vehicle.

Hattan said restraints were believed to not be in use by Freeman, but were in use in Wilkie’s vehicle.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Nebraska State Patrol.

Hattan says this is the second serious accident that has occurred at this intersection in the last couple weeks so make sure to be careful.
