Sen. Fischer wants next U.S. Supreme Court Justice to uphold Constitution, not make law
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The list of contenders to replace U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy is now rumored to be at three. U.S. Senator Deb Fischer has her list of qualifications for Kennedy’s replacement.
Senator Fischer says, “I’m looking for a nominee from the President who will be highly qualified. By that I want to see someone with a very sharp intellect. Someone who has a judicial temperament. We want to have obviously somebody who will strongly uphold the Constitution of this country and follow the rule of law.”
Fischer goes on to say she doesn’t want someone who will legislate from the bench. She says it is inappropriate for a justice to take a stand on any issue they might have to rule on later.
