New Hampshire approves online sci-fi literature university
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — An online university focused on fantasy and sci-fi literature is setting up shop in New Hampshire.
The state’s Higher Education Commission has given Signum University approval to offer classes, and the nonprofit, Delaware-based school is in the process of transferring its incorporation to New Hampshire. It is also seeking approval from the state Legislature to grant master’s degrees in language in literature.
The Department of Education said this is the first approval of a new university in New Hampshire in more than six years, but others have expressed interest in establishing themselves in the state.
Signum’s classes cover themes such as Celtic mythology in young adult literature and Star Wars as a global cultural phenomenon.
