Cynthia L. “Cindy” Nicholson, 62, of St. Anne, passed away Friday (March 1, 2019) at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
She was born July 25, 1956, in Kankakee, the daughter of Wilbur and Bernice (Koenig) LaFond. Cindy married Robert W. Nicholson on May 21, 1979, in Kankakee. He preceded her in death Nov. 4, 2007.
Cindy was a homemaker. She loved taking walks, playing board games, playing games on her phone and camping. Cindy was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and dirt track racing. She enjoyed watching “The Voice” and was a fan of Blake Shelton. Most of all, Cindy loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jack Nicholson, of Gilman, and Roger “Zeke” and Samantha Nicholson, of Gilman; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Candace and Arnold Torres, of St. Anne, Crystal Nicholson, of Kankakee, and Annie and Derek Kemp, of Bourbonnais; 10 grandchildren, Destiny Torres, McKenzzee Causey, Drew Causey, Briauna Brunson, Holly Trudeau, Jacob Trudeau, Robert Nicholson III, Kylie Nicholson, Jack Nicholson and Thomas Nicholson; one great-grandchild, Kayden Simon; one stepson, Robert Nicholson II, of Kankakee; one stepdaughter, Josie and Rusty Trudeau, of Momence; two sisters, Cheryl Stalnecker, of Arizona, and Pam LaFond, of Benton; three brothers, Stanley LaFond, of Missouri, Dan LaFond, of Golconda, and Richard LaFond, of St. Anne; and her beloved dog, Nug.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Shirley LaFond; and one brother, Jack LaFond.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Clancy-Gernon-Houk Funeral Home in St. Anne. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, also at the funeral home. Jacob Lee will officiate the service. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Private inurnment will be at a later date in St. Anne Township Cemetery.
