Cleveland native Dimez is No. 1 overall pick in NBA 2K League Draft

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- In the inaugural NBA 2K League Draft, (Dallas) Mavs Gaming selected Cleveland native Artreyo Boyd aka Dimez (@DatBoyDimez) with the first overall pick in the draft.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced the selection at the draft being held Wednesday afternoon at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Dimez, 23, is one of the top NBA 2K gamers in the world, often called the “LeBron James of 2K.” He’s played for Breakout Gaming’s NBA 2K18 Pro-Am squad and Still Trill in the NBA 2K All-Star Weekend Tournament Championship.

Mock drafts projected the point guard to go first overall and that turned out to be case. He will now report to his new boss, Mavs owner Mark Cuban.

The Cavs Legion have the No. 16 pick in the first round. There are six rounds with the Cavs’ team also holding Nos. 19, 50, 53, 84, and 87. The draft is being broadcast live on NBA TV and Twitch.
