Falcon men win exhibition
Bowling Green State University’s men’s basketball team was a 71-56 winner over Capital in an exhibition game Friday night in the Stroh Center.
Zack Denny had 18 points to pace the Falcons, while Rodrick Caldwell ahd 15. Demajeo Wiggins and Wes Alcegaire each had eight points and Dylan Frye had seven.
Bowling Green trailed 32-29 at halftime before out-scoring Capital 42-24 in the second half.
Capital is a Division III university.
Bowling Green coach Michael Huger attributed the first-half struggles to a lack of energy and excitement in the game.
Capital edged Bowling Green 19-11 in rebounding in the first half, but the Falcons bounced back in the final 20 minutes. Rebounds finished at 35 each, although Capital had nine offensive boards.
Bowling Green scored 32 points in the paint and 16 points off turnovers while shooting 49 percent (25-of-51) from the floor. The Falcons were 7-of-18 (38.9 percent) from 3-point range and shot just 63.6 percent (14-of-22) from the free-throw line.
Capital was 19-of-55 (34.5 percent) shooting.
The game was tied at 54-54 with 6:41 to play before the Falcons used a 17-2 run to finish off the game. Bowling Green was strong in transition in the final six minutes.
Capital had 15 turnovers. Caleb Cox led the visitors with eight points.
