Man dies after falling from cliffs west of Billings, undersheriff says
An out-of-state man died Thursday after falling from a cliff near Molt, authorities say.
The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was in the area visiting family, according to Stillwater County Undersheriff Chip Kem.
Stillwater County Search and Rescue found the man’s body at noon on Thursday near his family member’s home, Kem said. The property of 140 acres is located along Canyon Creek Road.
The man had been reported missing to the sheriff’s office at 7:12 a.m.
The area is similar in topography to the Rimrocks in Billings, Kem said.
An autopsy has been scheduled. County officials are delaying releasing the man’s name until local family has had time to notify others, the undersheriff said.
