New Fairfield Family Day to kick off this weekend
NEW FAIRFIELD — Residents can enjoy a long list of attractions throughout town on Saturday as part of New Fairfield Family Day, which will end with the town’s first Taste of New Fairfield event.
The weekend will kick off Friday night with a benefit Pops Concert from 7 to 9 p.m. on Memorial Field by the Mad Hatters, a barber shop quartet, and the Candlewood Brass.
On Saturday, family activities will be held at different locations throughout town from noon to 4 p.m. The activities include a bouncy house, exercise classes, nature demonstrations, “touch-a-truck” event and a pie eating contest. A full list and map of activites can be found on the town website.
From 6 to 10 p.m., the Taste of New Fairfield benefit dinner and dance, sponsored by the Community Service Club, will be held at the Company A Firehouse. Three “hometown heroes” nominated for their efforts in recovery from the May 15 storm will be honored and the proceeds from the dinner and the Pops Concert will go to the New Fairfield Storm Recovery Fund.
