Hastings College’s Buttermore named Omaha volleyball coach
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Hastings College’s Matt Buttermore has been named the new volleyball coach at Omaha.
Athletic director Trev Alberts announced Buttermore’s hiring Monday. He takes over for Rose Shires, who led the Mavericks for 29 seasons.
Buttermore guided the Broncos to an NAIA national championship in 2016 along with three Great Plains Athletic Conference championships. Hastings made five NAIA national tournament appearances in seven years under Buttermore.
The Lincoln native played college volleyball at the University of Findlay in Ohio, where he holds program records for blocks in a match and in a season. His wife, the former Laura Pilakowski, was an All-America volleyball player for Nebraska in the early 2000s.
