Better shop now at these Pittsburgh pop-up shops
Pop-up shops are literally popping-up this holiday season. Here’s some to check out in Pittsburgh.
Six female-owned businesses will showcase their companies from noon to 6 p.m. Nov. 25, Dec. 2, 9 and 16 at 5125 Penn Ave., in Garfield.
Designers include Kiya Tomlin of Uptown Sweats, an upscale sweatshirt fleece line and Gillian Preston of Broken Plates, a collection of hand-blown glass jewelry. Nisha Blackwell of Knotzland creates one-of-a-kind handmade bow ties and Shannon Pultz of Blak Rust will present a holiday collection of silk scarves. Julie Shields of J. Hilburn will showcase this men’s suit line.
Sophia Berman and Susan Banerjee of Trusst Lingerie will host the pop-up shop at their company location where they offer bras for fuller-busted women.
Avant-Garde Art and Craft Show
The Avant-Garde Art and Craft Show is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Local 249 Banquet Hall, 4701 Butler St., Lawrenceville. Nearly 70 handmade indie artisans and crafters are part of the show which are a series of art and craft events held throughout the Midwest. This will be the show’s first time in Pittsburgh.
Founded in 2011 by entrepreneur, artist and Cleveland, Ohio native Becki Silverstein, the show has expanded from Ohio into Pennsylvania and Michigan.
A portion of the proceeds from the Pittsburgh event will benefit Girls on the Run, which seeks to help and empower young women to realize their limitless potential using a fun experience-based curriculum, which creatively integrates running.
Admission is $3.
Technogel Sleeping is a pop-up shop at 600 Wood St. This European-based gel manufacturer with its North American headquarters in Pittsburgh will feature cutting-edge gel molded pillows and mattresses. Hours are noon to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays through December.
Moop is bringing together several retailers in this pop-up shop at 807 Liberty Ave. It will feature curated collections of men’s and women’s clothing, canvas bags, and vintage furniture from Vestis, Pavement, Moop and TollGate Revival. Hours are noon to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays through Dec. 23.
Heinz Healy, 160 Fifth Ave., is having an in-store pop-up of women’s clothier, Peter Lawrence, through December. This new sister store to Heinz Healy will offer everything for the professional woman from active wear to business attire to formal dressing. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, untl 8 p.m. Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays.
