Duluth Trading Company moving into Red Wing location

March 24, 2017

RED WING — Duluth Trading Company, the apparel line started along the North Shore and currently based in Belleville, Wis., plans to open a store in Red Wing, according to statement from Duluth Holdings Inc. on Tuesday.

In addition to the good news the retailer’s fourth-quarter sales were up 24 percent from the previous year, the company announced it had signed a lease and planned to open a store in Red Wing during the second fiscal quarter.

According to a company spokesperson, the new store is expected to bring 20-30 jobs to Red Wing.

Duluth Trading selected Red Wing based on “data that demonstrates Duluth customer demand, and a site that will reflect the Duluth brand promise to our retail customers,” the spokesperson said. The goal is to provide a shopping experience tied to the brand’s rugged identity.

At a meeting last month, the Red Wing City Council approved $25,000 in funding from the federal Small Cities Program grant for a new business that would include a retail store and storefront at 307 Main St. The location is where the former Sarah’s restaurant was located and is next door to Red Wing Shoes on Main Street.

The company confirmed that the store will be located at that address.
