Bucks: Trade with Bulls made official; Milwaukee falls to Detroit in preseason game

October 18, 2016 GMT

The Bucks and Bulls officially announced a trade that sent guard Michael Carter-Williams from Milwaukee in exchange for Chicago guard Tony Snell.

Snell was selected by the Bulls in the first round (20th overall) of the 2013 draft and in three seasons with the team averaged 5.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in 18.5 minutes per game.

The 6-foot-6 Carter- Williams was the 11th overall selection by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2013 NBA draft and was later named the rookie of the year.

“I’m really excited about Michael,” Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg said following Monday’s morning shootaround in preparation for the Bulls’ exhibition game against the Charlotte Hornets. “I think he’s a versatile basketball player. … Just excited to get him.”

Carter-Williams will be looked upon to solidify Chicago’s backup point guard spot behind starter Rajon Rondo.

Bulls forward Taj Gibson said he spoke with Snell on Monday night.

“He was in good spirits understanding the Bucks called him and he’s going to a team that wants him — not to say the Bulls didn’t want him — but he’s going to a team that’s going to further develop him,” Gibson said.

Pistons 102, Bucks 78

Kentavious Caldwell- Pope scored 23 points to lead host Detroit over Milwaukee in a preseason game in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 21 points and Jabari Parker had 18 points for the Bucks, who shot just 37 percent from the floor and 23.5 percent from 3-point range.

Former University of Wisconsin star Jon Leuer, who played his rookie year with the Bucks, started for the Pistons. The sixth-year forward had four points, three rebounds and three steals in 25 minutes.
