Chapman one-hits Flyers in Dragons’ 12-1 run-rule win
ROME TOWNSHIP, Ohio— Dacoda Chapman struck out 10 and pitched a one-hitter as the Fairland Dragons (14-4) rolled to a 12-1 victory over the Ironton St. Joe Flyers on Thursday at Roger Snyder Field in Rome Township, Ohio.
Tucker Adkins went 2 for 3 with three RBI and Reilly Sowards and Chapman each drove in two runs.
Fairland scored six runs in the second inning to break open a 1-0 game. The Dragons and took advantage of 14 walks by St. Joe pitchers and stole 10 bases.
GREEN 8, PND 0: Levi Singleton struck out seven in a shutout at Portsmouth Notre Dame. Tayte Carver went 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBI as the Bobcats improved to 17-2 overall, 9-1 Southern Ohio Conference. Singleton went 3 for 3 with two RBI. Bryce Ponn was 2 for 3 and Mason Barber 2 for 4.
GALLIA ACADEMY 12, PORTSMOUTH 1: Wyatt Sipple went 3 for 4 to help the Blue Devils (11-6 overall, 7-4 Ohio Valley Conference) defeat the Trojans at Bob Eastman Field in Centenary, Ohio. Justin McClelland was the winning pitcher.
RUSSELL 11, ASHLAND 0: Zach Pope homered and John Miller drove in three as the Red Devils shut out the Tomcats. Grant Wilburn had two RBI. Daniel Blanton was the winning pitcher.
POINT PLEASANT 14, CHAP-MANVILLE 5: Wyatt Wilson drove in four runs and Kyelar Morrow two as the Big Blacks (16-6) won at home against the Tigers. Morrow was the winning pitcher. Josh Wamsley and Miles Williams each connected for three hits.
WAHAMA 5, PARKERSBURG CATHOLIC 2: Tanner Smiths three-run homer provided the difference in the White Falcons’ win over the Crusaders in Mason, West Virginia. Smith was the winning pitcher. Waha-ma is 19-4. Parkersburg Catholic fell to 8-14.
POCA 1, HERBERT HOOVER 0: Nathan Cottrill’s RBI groundout in the top of the first inning made a winner of Cody Fisher as the Dots (12-7) edged the Huskies (7-18).
WINFIELD 11, NITRO 2: Landen Fairchild went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBI as the Generals won at home. Nick Edwards smacked a two-run double for Winfield. Joel Sweat went 3 for 4 with a double for the Wildcats.
BUFFALO 10, VAN 0: Jakob Smith struck out seven en route to a one-hit shutout as the Bison (11-9) beat the visiting Bulldogs. Preston Tucker went 2 for 3 with three RBI, Cameron Lovejoy clubbed a three-run double, and David Whittington went 2 for 3.
SOUTH GALLIA 6, IRONTON ST. JOE 1: Makayla Waugh struck out 13 to pace the Rebels to a triumph over the Flyers in Ironton.
SYMMES VALLEY 13, NEW BOSTON 3: Morgan Jenkins went 4 for 4 and Emily Sharp and Errica Ross each drove in two as the Vikings beat the Tigers in Aid, Ohio. Sarah Kingery, Rachael Hayes and Kara Saunders had two hits apiece. Saunders was the winning pitcher.
GALUA ACADEMY 16, PORTSMOUTH 8: The Blue Angels (7-11 overall, 7-4 Ohio Valley Conference) rallied from five runs down to defeat the Trojans in Centenary, Ohio. Abby Hammons’ solo homer provided the winning run. Hunter Copley, who had three hits, earned the win. Hammons went 3 for 4 with a triple and three RBI. Preslee Reed was 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple and four RBI. Aubrey Unroe had three hits.
RIVER VALLEY 11, SOUTHEASTERN 0: Baylee Hollanbaugh pitched a one-hit shutout as the Raiders (11-9) walloped the Panthers in Londerry, Ohio. Hollanbaugh smacked four hits and drove in three.
