Prosecution rests in Bob Menendez bribery trial

NEWARK — After calling more than 30 witnesses over six weeks of testimony, federal prosecutors on Wednesday rested their bribery case against U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez.

Defense attorneys for the New Jersey Democrat and his co-defendant, Florida eye doctor Salomon Melgen, are asking the judge to dismiss the case. The judge excused the jury and said he would hear oral arguments on the motion this afternoon.
