Big, bold styles making a comeback

Everything about the original “Dynasty” was over the top when it debuted in 1981 — including the wardrobe. The nighttime soap embraced and elevated the more- is-more fashion credo of the decade — remember the shoulder pads, sparkle-tastic gowns and the redefinition of power dressing for women? Many of those trends are back in one form or another, on recent runways and red carpets. Sarah Paulson rocked the go-big-or-go-home sequin look at the Emmys, while Reese Witherspoon represented the one-shoulder dress (in black, of course) at a London screening. And there are plenty of floofy ruffles and shoulder pads to go around, again.
