May 23, 2018

A work release inmate who had been missing for nearly five weeks was taken into custody Tuesday evening by the Pennsylvania State Police in Summit Township.

Nathen Kyle Hutzell, 25, was transferred into the custody of the Somerset Borough Police Department for arraignment purposes, according to a press release from borough police Chief Randy Cox. Hutzell had been on the run since he failed to return to the Somerset County Jail from work release on April 18.

He was charged with escape, a third-degree felony.

He had been serving a sentence for a probation violation involving retail theft and driving under the influence charges.

Police said more details will be released as they become available.
