SANDWICH — A 51-year-old Somonauk man drove in the wrong lane and initially resisted police stopping him before he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and arrested early Friday morning in Sandwich.

Edwin N. Barone, 51, of the 400 block of Holiday Drive, Somonauk, was driving in the wrong lane around 12:50 a.m. Friday when DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Chicago Road and East Sandwich Road in Sandwich, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

Barone did not stop for more than two miles. Deputies successfully pulled his car over at Galena Road and Little Rock Road and arrested Barone for DUI and driving while his license was revoked. He was also charged with failing to yield to an emergency vehicle and improper lane usage.

He was transported to DeKalb County jail.
