Two killed in multi-vehicle crash on Needles Highway
NEEDLES — A fatal accident on Needles Highway south of Aha Macav Parkway near the Needles city limit was reported on July 29 at 8:52 a.m. by the California Highway Patrol.
According to the CHP the first vehicle, driven by A 34-year-old man from Window Rock, Ariz., was traveling southbound on Needles Highway at an undetermined speed and crossed over the double yellow lines into the northbound lane. The second vehicle, driven by a 23-year-old man from Anaheim, Calif., was traveling northbound and felt V-1 impact his left side. A third vehicle, driven by a 51-year-old woman from Anaheim, was traveling north behind V-2; saw the two collide and swerved right to avoid a head-on collision with V-1. A fourth vehicle, driven by a 48-year-old female from Anaheim, was traveling northbound behind the first two and collided head on with V-1 in the northbound lane.
The drivers of the first and fourth vehicles were killed in the crash. Suffering from major injuries, passengers in the fourth vehicle were airlifted to hospitals; an 11-year-old girl in the first vehicle was transported by Baker Ambulance. The drivers of the second and third vehicle were not injured.
